As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for obtaining quality blood samples
using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups. Methods may include
venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections. Not all locations use all
methods. You will provide rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas
and codes.
Working as a Phlebotomist at Mayo Clinic, you will be working both independently
and as a team, actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive
work environment, and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences,
and perspectives. You will interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other
healthcare professionals to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. A
variety of computer programs and systems will be used throughout your daily
routine. Additional responsibilities of this role include accurate patient
identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation,
answering phones, assisting with the training of students and new employees..
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this
position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo
Clinic.
