Role Summary: The Construction Manager will be responsible for guiding assigned new home construction projects from design, development, permitting, and pre-construction through active construction, homebuyer closing, and warranty. This is a hands-on, field-focused leadership role. The Construction Manager will oversee daily construction activity, manage trade partners, maintain schedules, control costs, coordinate inspections, communicate with the team, and help ensure each home is completed with quality, efficiency, and attention to detail. This position reports to the President and will work closely with the company’s administrative team, trade partners, vendors, cities, inspectors, engineers, customers, and homeowners.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
Construction Operations
The Construction Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned homes from pre-construction through completion. Responsibilities include:
Managing assigned homes from start to finish
Coordinating daily field activity and jobsite progress
Ensuring homes are built according to plans, specifications, quality standards, budgets, and schedules
Maintaining clean, organized, and professional job sites
Identifying and resolving construction issues quickly and professionally
Proactively addressing delays, conflicts, quality concerns, and cost issues
Keeping projects moving in the proper sequence and at the expected quality level
BuilderTrend, Scheduling, and Documentation
BuilderTrend will be a key tool for managing schedules, communication, documentation, and accountability. Responsibilities include:
Updating BuilderTrend daily
Entering daily logs in BuilderTrend
Maintaining accurate construction schedules in BuilderTrend
Documenting job progress, issues, trade partner activity, schedule changes, and important project details
Using BuilderTrend consistently to support clear communication and project tracking
Budget and Cost Control
The Construction Manager will help ensure homes are completed within approved budgets. Responsibilities include:
Adhering to construction budgets
Monitoring field activity for potential cost overruns
Identifying, communicating, and helping resolve variances
Working with trade partners and vendors to address pricing, scope, or quality concerns
Supporting company efforts to improve efficiency and protect profitability
Trade Partner Management
The Construction Manager will actively manage trade partners and help build a strong, reliable trade base. Responsibilities include:
Coordinating and supervising trade partner work
Holding trade partners accountable for quality, schedule, safety, communication, and professionalism
Resolving trade partner conflicts when they arise
Communicating expectations clearly and consistently
Identifying performance issues and working toward timely resolution
Helping find, qualify, and onboard new trade partners as necessary
Inspections and Compliance
The Construction Manager will coordinate all required inspections and help ensure homes remain compliant with applicable requirements. Responsibilities include:
Scheduling and coordinating city inspections
Scheduling and coordinating third-party engineering inspections
Ensuring homes are ready for required inspections
Following up on inspection results and corrections
Maintaining proper documentation related to inspections and approvals
Customer Experience, Closing, and Warranty
The Construction Manager plays an important role in the customer experience and must represent the company with professionalism and care. Responsibilities include:
Conducting new home orientation walks with homebuyers
Explaining key home features and systems clearly
Documenting customer questions, concerns, and outstanding items
Ensuring agreed-upon items are completed prior to closing
Managing warranty items after closing
Coordinating with trade partners to complete warranty work
Communicating professionally with homeowners throughout the process
Communication and Team Coordination
Consistent communication is critical in this role. Responsibilities include:
Communicating regularly with the President and the administrative team
Providing timely updates on job progress, delays, inspections, trade partner concerns, budget issues, and customer matters
Keeping internal team members informed so they can properly support permitting, scheduling, website updates, customer communication, payments, and documentation
Maintaining professional communication with cities, engineers, inspectors, trade partners, vendors, customers, and homeowners
Other Essential Duties
The Construction Manager will also be expected to:
Help improve company processes as the business grows
Support company goals related to quality, schedule, customer satisfaction, cost control, and trade partner performance
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Residential construction management experience
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple home site priorities, deadlines, and jobsite issues

Professional judgment when working with customers, trade partners, inspectors, city employees, engineers, and homeowners
Comfort using technology and construction management software
Willingness to update BuilderTrend daily and maintain accurate project information
Preferred Experience
The following experience is preferred:
Production or semi-production homebuilding experience
Experience managing homes from start to finish
Experience with BuilderTrend or similar construction management software
Experience coordinating city and third-party inspections
Experience managing trade partners and construction schedules
Experience with warranty coordination and customer-facing walkthroughs
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position in the South Houston area. The Construction Manager should expect to spend significant time in the field visiting jobsites, managing trade partners, coordinating inspections, reviewing work quality, solving problems, and communicating with the team.
