Job Description

Company: Oklahoma State Fair, Inc.  Position Title: AgriBusiness Overnight Building Attendant Department: 2026 Oklahoma State Fair Reports To:  AgriBusiness Coordinator Supervises: N/A Classification: Seasonal, Hourly  Pay Range: $12/hr (dependent upon experience) This position is a seasonal role with an anticipated start date, end date and number of hours per week/month as outlined below. Employment is tied to seasonal business demands and is not guaranteed beyond the seasonal period. While there may be opportunities for other or intermittent hours outside of the stated period, any such hours are contingent upon business needs, workload, and operational requirements and do not change the seasonal nature of the position. This position does not carry a guarantee of minimum hours or continued employment beyond the seasonal term. This will be a temporary, part-time and hourly position for employment related to the 2026 Oklahoma State Fair. No other benefits, except those required by law, apply. Job Responsibilities * Serve as overnight building attendant in the Oklahoma Expo Hall (OEH) encompassing the following areas: * OEH 1 – 4-H competitions and displays. * OEH 2 – AGtropolis/Barnyard Birthing Center exhibits and displays. This area includes live animal exhibits which are the main focus of this job requiring specific/specialized attention. * OEH 3 – FFA competitions and displays. * Perform consistent reviews of the animals and displays in this building, verifying security of exterior doors after building is closed each night and communicating as necessary with AGtropolis Superintendent or AgriBusiness Coordinators.  * Serve as liaison between AGtropolis/Barnyard Birthing Center Superintendent, OSF Managers and/or veterinary staff of OVMA (Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association). * Assist in other departments as needed.  * Other duties as assigned. Additional Job Requirements * Basic knowledge of animal husbandry, animal welfare and experience within animal industries.  * Must be comfortable working in close proximity with sows, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and cattle. * Must be willing and able to frequently walk through all areas of OEH 2 to inspect and review animal well-being. * Assess situations and communicate effectively with appropriate designated official if an immediate need is present.  General Requirements * Fully commit to work the entire duration of the 2026 Oklahoma State Fair, September 17-27. * Have access to daily, reliable transportation. * Be positive, enthusiastic and cooperative. * Maintain a friendly, professional, calm demeanor in all situations. * Be flexible as job instructions may change from time to time. * Communicate clearly and respectfully in English (speak, read, write). * Maintain a high standard of appearance and grooming (i.e., clean, wrinkle free clothing, proper uniform/attire, close attention to personal hygiene). Comfortable, closed toe shoes are required. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions * Must have the ability to work in a high-volume, high-stress environment. * Extended hours, nights and weekends required. * Frequent or continual movement covering long distances with ease and normal physical mobility. * Work indoors and outdoors in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions. * Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 25 lbs. unassisted, and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands. * Stand or walk for extended periods. * Other prolonged and/or intermittent physical exertions may be required including, but not limited to, seeing, hearing, lifting, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas. Additional Information * This job will be a nightly position beginning the night of September 16 and ending the morning of September 28 (12 consecutive nights). * Overnight hours will be approximately 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. each night. * It is mandatory to remain within the OEH complex during all scheduled working hours with special attention given to OEH 2. Guests are not allowed in the complex without prior request and approval. * Personal items will be allowed with prior approval but MUST be removed from the area at the end of each shift without fail.  * Identification badges will be provided for admission along with a unique parking pass to allow parking adjacent to the OEH complex. * A log will be provided for entering hours worked (sign in upon arrival, sign out prior to departure). * Paychecks will be MAILED post-Fair.
