Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* The Pharmacy Technician II/ Intern is responsible for providing service to
customers coming to the pharmacy, answering telephones, assembling floor
stock medications, refilling Pyxis machines, transportation of medications to
and from nursing floors and departments, pre-packing and labeling medications
under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
* Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and
conduct.
* Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Assists pharmacists with all aspects of departmental operations which
include, but are not limited to, IV admixture and operation of IV workflow
manager system, unit dose order fills, infusion pharmacy support, medication
charging functions, and TPN mixing, manually or using an auto-mixer.
* Performs floor stock inspections.
* Performs timely and accurate delivery of controlled substances to patient
care areas.
* Performs Pyxis override and ED audits.
* Prepare anesthesia drug trays and operation of the TraySafe system, prepares
emergency drug trays and crash cart replenishments independently according to
pharmacy law.
* Performs Tech-check-Tech functions according to department policy and
procedures.
* Performs home medication information collection in ED and on nursing units.
* Performs chemotherapy or biohazardous drug mixing under the direct
supervision of a pharmacist.
