Job Summary: The Medical Assistant is assigned to perform patient-oriented
procedures, tasks, and workflows from patient check-in to check-out at all LLUHC
sites, within scope of education and training, and under the supervision of
physician, supervisor, and/or licensed staff person. Provide MA coverage to the
various LLUHC Departments as requested/required. Exemplifies the Values and
Mission of LLUHC. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Proof of completion required from a Credentialed or
Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant (MA) program. Minimum of up to one year
of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant required, two years’ experience
preferred. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) user preferred
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of outpatient clinic front office and back
office practices and policies, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) user preferred.
Able to consistently and effectively us computer keyboard. Able to read; write
legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and
software programs necessary to the position. Operate/troubleshoot basic
office/patient care equipment required for the position. Relate and communicate
positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond
courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Communicate
effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think
critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize
workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with
accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal
supervision. Distinguish colors and smell as necessary for patient care; hear
sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone or other
electronic mode. Identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the
workplace and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical
records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature
variances through touch necessary for patient care.
Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support- Provider Course (BLS)
certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Phlebotomy
certificate preferred. Valid/Current unrestricted California Driver's license
required. Valid/Current auto insurance required.
