Job Purpose: The Inventory Control Clerk Floater will assume the
responsibilities of the inventory control clerk role across multiple Illinois
facilities within the organization. The floater will fill the gaps in the work
schedules and rotate around different buildings.
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for conducting cycle counts and bin
location audits, assisting in researching and reconciling inventory
discrepancies and working with the Inventory Supervisor/Manager in any inventory
related functions concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools,
equipment, and parts, in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs physical counts of inventory items in order to maintain accurate
inventory.
* Counts and reconciles randomly chosen or chosen part numbers and/or locations
on a daily basis.
* Accurately inputs inventory control data to ensure inventory integrity.
* Completes necessary documentation thoroughly, accurately, and on-time.
* Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between
inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to
resolve discrepancies.
* Other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager
* Spends 80% or more of the workday performing inventory related activities in
the warehouse using an RF Gun or Tablet. 20% or less of the workday is spent
working at a computer terminal.
* Clerks are required to travel to and assist at other facilities as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ensures compliance to inventory processes and procedures, and contractual
obligations.
* Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and
pallets.
* Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns,
and documentation.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 1-3 months related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
* Minimum 1-3 months related experience and/or training in warehouse
environment.
* Prior experience operating material handling equipment is required. Order
selector, cherry picker/high lift experience is preferred, willingness to be
certified and use is required.
* Experience using WMS software a plus (Synapse preferred).
* PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
Database.
Requirements:
* MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORATION.
* MUST HAVE A WORKING CELL PHONE (to receive daily work assignment)
* ABILITY TO START AT ANY RJW ILLINOIS LOCATIONS UPON NOTIFICATION.
Education and/or Experience Required:
* High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to read and write emails.
* Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and
pallets.
* Forklift certification a plus.
Mathematical Skills:
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form. Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine
corrective action.
Computer Skills:
* To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of the
Microsoft Office Suite for writing emails and interpreting and/or creating
reports.
Physical Demands:
* Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
* Must be able to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
* Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
* Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
* Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
* Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills,
maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task
at a time.
* Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media
with 20/20 corrected vision.
* Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
* Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed
physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
Work Environment:
* While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed
to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level
in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
